Went back out to Fall Creek this morning in Hood County, TX. Started digging at 8:45am and quit about 4pm. I found about 5 broken arrow points. Found this knife right after lunch. It may be a Friday knife (4000-1500 B.P.). It's knapped to a curve on one side and squared on the other. I was in alot of good ash, bone, flint, and snail all day. I think this little birdpoint camp is going to be good for awhile.

We rented a backhoe and I screened all day. Found this projectile point around lunch. Looks like a bevealed Darl. It came from the birdpoint layer. There was another Darl found later in the day. Those were the only complete finds on saturday. About 12 of us that day. Found on Fall Creek in Hood County, Texas.

November 9, 2009

Dug in the birdpoint layer for about 5 hours today. Followed the bone, black dirt, firerock and flint. I was sifting with my hands and thought I had pushed a point away. I decided to resift the pile. I'm glad I did. Found this little Bonham(1200-600 B.P.). Pretty nice little dart point. Found on Fall Creek in Hood County, TX.

Halloween Find - 2009

This knife is a serrated Snake Head Harahey. I followed charred dirt, bone, firerock, white ash and flint and dug this out. It was found next to a broken Perdiz point. I think the Perdiz was used to kill the animal (probably a buffalo) and the Harahey knife (700-400 B.P.) was used to skin or cut it up. Both were next to each other and about 3 feet from the surface. Labor Day - 2009

We rented a backhoe and I screened for about 5 hours. There were about 15 people. Found these two projectile points about 8 feet below the surface. The smaller one has been worked down. I'm not sure about the point types. Found on Fall Creek in Hood County, TX. Wish I could have been there all 3 days.

Hand dug this little Perdiz point (1000-500) B.P. at the end of the day on Fall Creek in Hood County, TX. It was about 2 or 3 feet from the surface. I had a wall of dirt fall on me and bruise my leg. Decided to call it a day and limped to the car.

Found a local place to dig recently. It's on Fallcreek in Hood, County TX. just outside of Acton. Looks like a pretty good place. Found some little broken dart points and then this knife in the same layer about 2 feet deep. It may be a Snake Head Harahey knife (700-400 B.P.). These were usually found as buffalo skinning knives. This one has some little serrations on it. These knives are only around 700-400 years B.P. Also found this little Hayes point (1200-600 B.P.) too. Looks like it's been resharpened and has just the very tip missing.

Summer of 2009

We had some rain lately so I thought I'd try Doyle Dunaway's place after work. Picked up this point right next to the big sifter. It probably fell off the screen or dozer bucket and the rain left it exposed. Not sure about the type. Found on Coffee Creek in Palo Pinto County, TX. This creek feeds into the Brazos about a quarter to a half mile away.

Drove down around Fredericksburg, TX. this weekend. A guy named Chris was running this backhoe dig. I got there around 8:30 am and left about 6:30 pm. This was the first time I had to tell the operator to quit giving me buckets of dirt because I was tired and ready to go back to the hotel. Found these in Kendall County, TX.

This one is either a Bulverde or a Langtry or a cross between. I'm going with Bulverde 5000 - 2000 B.P.

An Early Triangle I think. 9000 - 7000 B.P.



Not sure about this type.

Found these surface finds in the plowed field on the Dry Fork Little Wichita River in Clay County, TX. The white one looks like a little knife and the arrow point is made of some type of chertish material. This chert-like stuff is probably native material.

March 7-8, 2009

Went down to Pipe Creek, TX. in Bandera County this weekend. This was a really nice place to dig. I wish I would have gotten here sooner because the best has probably been dug out. It was still good hand digging though. David and Brad met me down there too. Most of my points were found digging but a few were found in other peoples throw dirt. Towards the end of Sunday Brad called me to come dig next to him at the other end of the camp. They were in a hot spot. I found several points and wished I had dug at that end all weekend long. I also saw one of the best perds dug out on Saturday. Very sore.


I found this Frio in someones throw dirt. 5000-1500 B.P.

Needle tipped Fairland 3000-1500 B.P.



Here's a nice Bulverde that looks a little sideways. I think it used to be a little longer but looks like this because of reshapening. 5000-1000 B.P.



A root beer colored Early Triangle. 9000-7000 B.P.



Not sure what this is.



This Edwards was the only arrow point that I found all weekend. 2000-1000 B.P.

This dart point was in the plowed field off of the Dry Fork Little Wichita River in Clay County, TX. It might be a Godley point or a Palmillas point. Not sure and maybe something else.
